Rivers re-run: NSCDC deploys ACG, 4 Commandants, 2000 personnel

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says it has approved the deployment of one Assistant Commandant General (ACG), four Commandants and 2,000 personnel for the March 19 re-run elections in Rivers.
This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja by Mr Emmanuel Okeh, the NSCDC’s spokesperson.

According to the statement, NSCDC Commandant General Abdullahi Gana, approved the deployments.

Gana also directed the Assistant Commandant General in charge of Zone E, Owerri, Abdullahi Lapai, to relocate to Port Harcourt to oversee the operations during the re-run elections.

“Also deployed were four Commandants from the Zone and 2,000 personnel from neighbouring Commands to complement the personnel of the Rivers State Command on 19 March, 2016.’’
The corps helmsman, according to the statement, called on the political parties and political actors not to use inciting language during campaigns.

It said that NSCDC as the lead agency in the protection of critical infrastructure would deploy adequate personnel around the various locations to protect the nation’s infrastructure from being vandalised by saboteurs.
