Combined men of the Nigeria Police and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have blocked protesting Ogun state civil service workers from hitting the streets to protest against the state government inability to pay their deductions and other obligations.
The government had at the weekend ordered the striking workers to report to work on Monday,and issued a “no work no pay” circular, which was signed by the State Head of Service, Mr. Sola Adeyemi.
The workers, who had reportedly arrived as early as 6.00am, met stiff resistance from the security men who stormed the main entrance of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) along Abiola Way to prevent them.
A member of the state House of Assembly, Olayiwola Ojodu had a taste of the workers action, when he drove into the premises and the workers spotted him.
He had his vehicle windscreen shattered and was booed out of the compound.
The workers in their hundreds, as at time of filing this report, have however beat the Police surveillance as they used the second gate to hit the road moving towards the Government Secretariat, Oke Mosan.
The indefinite strike, which entered it second week, saw schools, hospitals and government ministries, agencies etc closed down.
