Emergency officials of the Lagos State government (LAGS), who didn’t want their names in print have said: “Two churches, two bungalows, one storey building, 12 shops,16 buses used for commercial and passengers and 12 cars were burnt, during the mayhem that engulfed the Mile 12 area of the state these past few days.
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has since ordered the immediate closure of the popular market following the face off between Yoruba and Hausa which broke out on Tuesday.
According to reports the fracas was caused when a commercial motorcycle, ridden by an Hausa man knocked down a Yoruba woman and then refused to treat her; prompting tit- for-tat reprisal attacks on each other before the face off escalated on Wednesday night.
