AVM Morgan asked to proceed on retirement leave

The federal government of Nigeria has asked Chief of Defence Intelligence, AVM Moday Riku Morgan to proceed on retirement leave.

The development is coming barely one week after a faceless group, which claimed to be Idoma leaders asked President Muhammadu Buhari to sack the defence boss for dabbling into home politics.

Though, Morgan is now due for retirement, President Buhari had earlier promised to extend his tenure for his bravery and vast experience. He’s not surprised anyway, but disappointed somehow that the development is coming few days after a controversial statement from his ‘kinsmen’ calling for his removal surfaced in the media,” a source told our reporter on Thursday.

But another source who spoke on condition of anonymity on the matter claimed his retirement was due even while he was serving at Oshodi as a commandant, Military Resettlement Centre. Disassociating Mark from the action of the government, the source who pleaded not to be mentioned said, ”it will be wrong for any one to say Mark was behind his retirement. The man had all along been using his life-line. How will D-Mark influence a government that he is not part of?,” he asked.

Effort to reach Defence office to confirm the development could not yield any result as the mobile lines were unavailable.
