$2.2bn arm scandal: N550m from NSA was compensation for Boko Haram attack- Obaigbena

The Editor-in-Chief and Chairman of THISDAY Newspaper, Nduka Obaigbena, has said that the sum of N550m he received from former National Security Adviser, NSA, Sambo Dasuki, was compensation for the Boko Haram attack on the Abuja office of the newspaper on April 26, 2012.

Obiagbena further stated that the additional N130m was compensation for 12 newspapers whose circulation was disrupted by soldiers, who claimed they were acting on a tip-off that Boko Haram sect wanted to transport explosive materials using media vehicles 2014.

The Chairman, in a letter dated December 9, 2015 and sent to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Friday, promised to honour the invitation extended to him by the anti-graft agency upon his return from the US.
